Press release

Temporary Eastbourne Library Closure 28 July to 2 August

Monday 21 July 2008

Eastbourne Library is closing for one week between Monday 28 July and Saturday 2 August 2008 so that staff can prepare the 1st floor for re-opening.

This level has been closed as part of major refurbishment of the library. Books, music scores, public access computers and an area for teenage readers are located on this floor. Some of the books, CDs, and DVDs that were kept in storage during the revamp will now be back on the shelves giving a greater choice to visitors.

Improvement works to the library have been taking place over the last few months. Every floor has been re-decorated and has new carpets, and there is better lighting on the ground floor.

Work to install a new lift with greater access for library users has already started. The next stage will start on August 4. As a result of this work there will be no lift available until the new lift is finished in October. Staff will get items from the upper floors for customers who are unable to use the stairs.

Popular sessions such as Baby Rhyme and Story Time will be held again when the summer term begins in September.

Membership of Eastbourne Library entitles customers to use any East Sussex County Council library. They include libraries close to Eastbourne such as Hampden Park, Langney, Pevensey Bay, Polegate and Willingdon. For more information visit our page on Eastbourne library.
