South East Low Carbon Awards – final week for entries

Friday 28 September 2007

Businesses that are actively reducing carbon emissions are encouraged to enter this year’s South East Low Carbon Awards.

East Sussex County Council has joined forces with other organisations across the region to sponsor this year’s awards, which recognise and reward businesses, schools, local authorities, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and individuals who have worked hard to reduce their carbon emissions and help create a low carbon economy.

Businesses active in reducing their carbon footprint, selling renewable technology, building low carbon homes, or promoting sustainable behaviour in some way among staff or clients are encouraged to enter.

Winners will be presented with their award at a prestigious ceremony on 29 November at the University of Southampton. Peter Henley, Political Editor for the BBC in the South and South East, will host the event.

Councillor Matthew Lock, the County Council's Lead Member for Transport and Environment, said: "I am delighted that we are sponsoring this award. We offer all sorts of support to help local businesses go green, including grants and free energy audits. This helps them to reduce their impact on our environment and make more money by doing so – a ‘win-win’ situation."

For an application form, and details of how to apply for the awards, please email conference@environmentcentre.com or telephone 02380 336172. The closing date is 30 September.
