Summer fete for Eastbourne’s elderly

Tuesday 28 August 2007

Service users and staff at Milton Resource Centre in Eastbourne are hoping to raise money from a summer fete to pay for social activities and outings.

The fete is to be held on Saturday 1 September from 1.30 – 4.30 pm at Milton Court Resource Centre, Milton Road in Eastbourne.

The fete will have lots of stalls including: bric-a-brac, tombola, handicrafts, refreshments, a barbecue and a big raffle.

Janice Knight, Acting Resource Officer at the centre, said: “We are hoping to have a really fun day and raise lots of money so we can pay for service users’ coffees and ices on days out and in-house musical entertainment.”

Notes to editors

Milton Court is used by elderly people for health assessments, respite care and day centre activities.

Milton Court was recently reviewed as part of Adult Social Care’s Directly Provided Services (DPS) for older people in the county. As a result of the DPS review, East Sussex County Council Cabinet approved the recommendation for Milton Court to become a Specialist Centre for Mental Health Services for older people along the coast.
