The County Council’s Trading Standards Service has worked with ESDA and Homecall to produce large print mobility advice leaflets.
The mobility leaflet provides consumers with practical advice on buying mobility goods. It includes everything from pre-shopping advice to details about the disability living allowance. The Council, ESDA and Homecall have also produced large print stickers to remind people about what to do if a cold caller comes to the door.
Councillor Bob Tidy, Lead Member for Community Services at the County Council said: “This is another example of how the County Council is working hard to provide all its residents with access to services, advice and information.
“The mobility leaflet is aimed at people with visual impairments and also community and voluntary groups who can help to provide better advice to people. I am delighted that we have been able to join with ESDA and Homecall to enable this vital information to reach as many residents as possible.”
The partnership between the County Council and the voluntary groups has stemmed from the work of the Council’s Consumer Support Network (CSN). The CSN now has many different organisations working together to provide people with the education, advice and knowledge they need to become informed consumers.
