Older people's annual meeting

Wednesday 24 January 2007

Older people are being given an opportunity to have their say on public services.

The Lewes and District Coalition of Older People is holding its first annual general meeting at the All Saints Centre, in friars Walk, Lewes on February 6, from 10am until 12.30pm.

The Coalition is one of five forums that East Sussex County Council has helped to set up in the last year to give older people an opportunity to take part in local democracy.

Speakers at the event will include Cllr Bill Bentley, the Council's Lead Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, and Brenda Darking from East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust. People will be invited to question them on subjects such as health, transport, the environment and any other local issues affecting older people, as part of a public discussion.

Lunch will be available after the meeting. For more information, please ring the Coalition's chairman, David Glen, on 07947 422897.
