Preliminary GCSE results announced on 21 August, showed the seventh consecutive year of improvement across the county with 14 schools reaching their best ever results. This year’s results also saw the highest rate of improvement in one year in both 5+ A* - C grades and 5+ A*-C grades including English and mathematics.

The Central Rail Corridor Board received the final report of the Network Rail study on Friday (18 July) which concluded that, although it is technically feasible, there is currently no economic case for rebuilding the Lewes – Uckfield rail line.
