Test your knowledge in local libraries

Friday 25 August 2006

Which famous Victorian writer wrote the Walrus and the Carpenter?

Which artist was accused of ‘flinging a pot of paint in the public's face’?

East Sussex County Council is giving visitors to its libraries in the Eastbourne area the opportunity to find the answer to these and other quiz questions from 11 September to 7 October 2006.

The libraries are supporting the Eastbourne Victorian Festival which takes place during the final week of this period. There is a quiz for adults and a competition to identify photographs of famous Victorians, for children – with a prize for each competition at each library.

Small displays on a Victorian theme will also be available. The participating libraries are:

  • Eastbourne Library (Grove Road)
  • Hampden Park Library (Brodrick Close)
  • Langney Library (Kingfisher Drive)
  • Polegate Library (Windsor Way)
  • Willingdon Library (Coppice Avenue).

Organised by the Eastbourne Society, this is the third year the festival will be celebrating the town’s Victorian hey day.

Visit your local library to find books, DVDs and so much more.
