County councillors and staff gathered at Uckfield Civic Centre on Tuesday 27 June for this year’s annual ‘Celebration of Staff Achievement’ award ceremony.
The awards recognised the time and effort put in by over 275 staff who gained qualifications during 2005, often studying in their own time in order to continue with their day jobs. They work in a range of roles in adult social care, and their qualifications include NVQs and degrees.
Councillor Keith Glazier, Lead member for children’s and adults services, and Councillor Bill Bentley, Lead member for adult social care attended the ceremony.
Councillor Bill Bentley said: "I am delighted that we have this opportunity to recognise the achievement of our staff, who have worked so hard to gain these qualifications.
"As a council we are passionate about delivering effective staff training and professional development. This means we can keep improving services for local people.”
Jan Springate, an admin assistant at Linden Court Day Centre in Eastbourne achieved the NVQ Level 2 in Administration. She said: "The learning experience of undertaking an NVQ has increased my confidence and general understanding of my job role.
"I feel more professional in my outlook to my work and it has made me feel I can constructively contribute to my team.”
