By 2027, it is estimated that 40% of East Sussex residents will be of pensionable age. The County Council’s adult social care team is inviting over 50s in Lewes and Wealden to take part in a workshop to find out what services they think should be developed for future housing support and where they should be.
The workshop will take place on Tuesday 4 July at Hailsham Leisure Centre from 1–4.30pm. The debate will build on and influence a new 20 year Housing & Support strategy aimed at people living in Lewes and Wealden, the first local plan of this type for the area.
The plan has been developed by the County Council, the Primary Care Trust, Lewes and Wealden District Councils, and the voluntary and private sector, and will be launched later this year.
It will identify priorities for future investment, so that people can stay in their homes as long as possible, and have tailor-made alternative accommodation where needed. The workshop will involve local people in shaping these priorities.
There is limited space, so book your place early or find out more by phoning 01273 481565 or email consultationasc@eastsussex.gov.uk.
If you can’t make the workshop but would like to have your say, visit our web pages at Have your say on housing and support in later life. Here you can download a questionnaire, or contact the team for a paper copy. Deadline for completed questionnaires is 31 August 2006.
Notes to editors
Workshops have already taken place in Peacehaven, Lewes and Uckfield in June. For more information phone 01273 481565.
