East Sussex County Council’s Buy With Confidence scheme welcomed a further 31 businesses to its ranks, bringing the total number of approved traders up to 183. With another 36 businesses currently going through the application process, it won’t be too long before the scheme breaks through the 200 barrier.
Councillor Bob Tidy, Lead Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: "More and more businesses are seeing the value of joining this scheme which is good for them and their customers. Consumers get a good deal as they can pick from a list of traders that aim to provide a reliable and customer-friendly service. And the traders get a boost themselves as they benefit from the positive publicity and potential extra business by being confirmed as an ‘approved trader’.
The latest group of businesses were officially welcomed by Councillor John Barnes, the Chairman of the County Council, during a recent ceremony held in Eastbourne. Councillor Barnes said: "It is very satisfying to see the members of this scheme nearing the 200 mark. It is clearly good value for the businesses concerned and for the public in general and I am delighted to see that the membership is drawn from all quarters of the County.”
The Buy With Confidence scheme is co-ordinated by the Council’s Trading Standards Service. It puts consumers in touch with approved traders who have agreed to provide high standards of customer service, including dealing promptly with any complaints. The traders have also undergone rigorous checks and an audit before they join. Any business can apply to become members of the scheme. The list of approved traders runs from builders to wine merchants and from chauffeurs to upholsterers.
If businesses want to find out more about joining the scheme they should contact the County Council’s Buy With Confidence team on 01323 418215 and select option 2. Consumers who want to find an approved trader should call the same number and select option 1.
The list and information on joining the scheme is available through our Buy with confidence web pages.
