Press release

Start composting this Spring

Monday 27 March 2006

Find out how you can compost your kitchen waste at the Compost Doctors workshop on Sunday 2 April at Lewes Organic Allotment Project.

The workshops are being held as part of the Compost Doctor scheme, a joint project between East Sussex County Council and Common Cause Co-operative which aims to get more people composting, and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill sites.

There will be experts on hand to offer practical advice and a compost demonstration area showing the different types of compost bins available. There will be two workshop sessions, running from 12pm and 2pm on a drop in basis.

Children can get involved too, as while the adults get composting the children can take part in a mini beast hunt, following clues and searching for creatures around the allotment, from ants to centipedes, and slow worms to lizards and frogs!

The Compost Doctors can offer advice over the phone, by email or by visiting you at home. Individual home visits cost £2, or are free if you book a visit with your friends and neighbours.

The Lewes Organic Allotment Project is at Highdown Allotments, at the top of Nevill Estate. For more information and directions contact Sarah or Pippa on 01273 476029 or 07914 934428 on the day. For more tips and special offers on equipment, visit our composting pages.
