Press release

Consultation on Energy Recovery Facility begins

Wednesday 30 November 2005

The planning application for an Energy Recovery Facility at North Quay, Newhaven is available for people to see and then, if they wish, to make comments on.

The consultation begins on 2 December and has been extended by the County Council from the normal six weeks, to eight, to take into account the Christmas period and make sure that people have enough time to comment.

All comments will be considered, but only those about planning issues, including the impact on residential areas, traffic levels and access to the site can be taken into account in assessing the proposal.

There will also be consultation with the Environment Agency, Lewes Disctrict Council, Newhaven, Seaford and Peacehaven Town Councils, as well as with local parish councils.

A report will be taken to the Planning & Highways Sub Committee which will then make a decision on the planning application. The date of the meeting will be publicised and the report will be on the website.

For more information about the planning process, including some questions and answers, see our page about the energy recovery facility, Newhaven.
