Hoax Planning Notice

Friday 23 September 2005

The County Council is advising residents not to respond to a hoax planning notice which claims that it intends to build an incinerator at Newhaven.

The notice resembles the formal notice that is used when a planning application has been received, and includes a county council logo. However, it is not genuine and is in fact a hoax.

The County Council would like to reassure everyone that there is no need to take any action or write to the planning department. Any letters that are received as a result of this notice will not be responded to.

A planning application for an energy recovery facility at Newhaven is expected from a private company and, when it is received, it will be advertised and be the subject of full public consultation. Details of who to contact with comments, and the timescale for doing so, will be well publicised.
