The improvements to GCSE results come after best ever results for A-levels – across the County, the pass rate for A-levels was 98%, compared to 96% nationally.
Councillor Rupert Simmons, Lead Member for Learning and School Effectiveness at the County Council, said: "This is great news for East Sussex and it is encouraging to see so many young people doing so well. These results are due to the students’ hard work, the skills and dedication of teachers, and the considerable support of parents and governors. East Sussex schools, in partnership with the County Council, continue to work hard to improve performance and drive up standards, and I’d like to congratulate our students and schools on their success.”
Provisional results reveal that seven schools have had their best year. They are:
- Bexhill High School (9% increase)

- The Causeway School, Eastbourne (10% increase)
- The Grove School, St Leonard’s on Sea (6% increase)

- Claverham Community College, Battle (75%)
