Press release

London to Paris trailblaze

Tuesday 23 August 2005

A group of 20 cyclists, who are riding from London to Paris, are inviting East Sussex riders to join them as they bike through the county on Saturday 3 September.

The London to Paris Trailblazers leave the capital on Friday 2 September and will cycle from East Grinstead, along the Forest Way and Cuckoo Trail on Saturday 3 September.

The ride is being organised by East Sussex County Council, with support from national cycle group Sustrans in a bid to bring English and French partners together to create the London to Paris route, known as the Avenue Verte/Greenway. When created, the route will eventually be 90 per cent traffic free.

People are invited to join the group at any stage of the ride through the county. For more information call East Sussex County Council on 01273 482642 or email cycling@eastsussex.gov.uk.

Notes to editors

The London to Paris Trailblaze is being organised as part of the Franco British Cycle Plan, which is being part funded by Europe, through the INTERREG IIIa programme.
