VE/VJ Day service of celebration

East Sussex residents are invited to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2.

The Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Mrs Phyllida Stewart-Roberts OBE will host a county church service on Sunday 31 July to mark the sixty year anniversaries of VE and VJ Day, which together saw the end of WW2.

There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the South Street War Memorial in Eastbourne at 2:45pm before the service at the Parish Church of St Saviour and St Peter from 3:30pm. Members of the public are welcome to both events. Those attending the church service are asked to be seated by 3.15pm.

The Bishop of Lewes, Bishop Wallace Benn will lead the service, with the Archdeacon for Lewes and Hastings, the Venerable Philip Jones and the Vicar of St Saviour’s and St Peter’s, the Very Reverend Jeffery Gunn.
