The group brings together movers and shakers from all walks of life to enhance their understanding of the problems that the county faces and to promote East Sussex nationally.
Those involved include influential people from the worlds of education, business, politics, art, trade unions, charities, health, farming, journalism and religion. Their aim is to broaden the understanding of the county’s needs, difficulties and achievements whether these are financial, environmental, educational or social.
John Barnes said: "I am delighted that Daphne has agreed to accept this new role and will continue, now that she has left the council, to help promote East Sussex by working with this eminent group of people. Can I also take this opportunity to congratulate her on her recent award of the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice for 'distinguished service to the Church and the Pope' which partly reflects her work for religious education whilst Chairman of the East Sussex Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) and for ecumenical initiatives whilst she was Chairman.
