This is the same accolade that was achieved by the council’s main website just two weeks ago when it became the first county authority in the country to meet the RNIB’s stringent standards.
The e-library was given its own seal of approval after RNIB auditors carried out checks to ensure the site was fully accessible to all disabled people.
The site allows people to search the county libraries’ full catalogue of books, talking books, videos, DVDs, CDs and printed music and to reserve or renew items online.
The service can be used by residents in libraries on dedicated computers or via Internet-connected PCs at home.
Councillor Bob Tidy, East Sussex County Council lead cabinet member for community services, said: "The fact that only eight councils in the country have so far earned the ‘See It Right’ logo makes it all the more impressive that we have been awarded two in as many weeks.
"It demonstrates not only our complete determination to ensure that the council’s online services are available to everyone, but also the skill and dedication of our web team to put that into practice.”
Recognition by the RNIB comes on top of the web team’s recent success in gaining the Internet crystal mark from the Plain English Campaign and being praised by the Society of Managers which carries out annual audits of all 468 council websites in the country.
