Teams from East Sussex, Brighton & Hove, Portsmouth and Kent battled it out over three heats in the regional finals of this year’s competition. The competition, held in Maidstone on Wednesday (March 16th), tested students on their knowledge of consumer rights and citizenship.
Seaford Head beat the Portsmouth team to make it through to the final where they faced Kent. The level of knowledge shown by all participating pupils was outstanding but, after a fierce competition, Kent was victorious with East Sussex coming second.
The East Sussex team consisted of Steve Cager, Sarah Crane, Kathy Gardner and Carl Tang. Their teacher is Maureen Warren. Each pupil who took part took home a bag of prizes for achieving second place.
The competition helps to develop the knowledge, skill and attitudes which influence everybody’s lives. It raises consumer awareness in the younger generation and encourages lifetime learning, a goal that East Sussex Trading Standards is keen to promote.
