The county council runs a range of events to promote the enjoyment of literature, and on Wednesday 2 March Crowborough library is opening its doors after hours and inviting residents to share in this one-off dramatic reading.
Local speech quartet, Orpheon Voices will be reading aloud poems from the poet’s collection and reflecting on his life and the Shropshire countryside that inspired his work.
A.E.Housman’s poetry has an enduring appeal, and his themes of passing youth and young love are as relevant today as when they were first published. His simple but direct language has ensured that the collection ‘A Shropshire lad’ has never been out of print.
The evening starts at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £3 and include refreshments. Places are limited but you can book your seat early by contacting Crowborough Library on 01892 664426.
