Residents are being urged to provide details of all the journeys they make on one specific day – Tuesday 9 November 2004 – in a survey being carried out by East Sussex County Council and Eastbourne Borough Council.
The two councils are working together to improve the transport system to meet the needs of everyone who travels in the Eastbourne area. 12,000 travel diary survey forms are being delivered to homes and the councils want each householder, plus up to three other people in the household, including children, to fill them in.
People will be asked for details of all their journeys, whether it’s as a car driver or passenger, or on foot, by cycle, motorcycle or on public transport and for the main purpose of their journey such as for work, shopping or leisure. Everyone who completes the form and returns the freepost envelope by no later than Friday 12 November will be entered into a free prize draw. The winning prize is a three day return trip on Transmanche Ferries from Newhaven to Dieppe for a car and up to five passengers.
All the information provided will be dealt with in the strictest confidence and only used for statistical analysis. The information will help the councils with any future plans that may be drawn up for public transport, parking and road improvements.
