Circular walks are a winner

Friday 30 July 2004

East Sussex County Council’s circular walks promotions are a real winner with the public and local businesses.

Since their launch in March this year 13 circular walks have been outlined throughout the County and 50,000 requests for the colourful advertising leaflets have come from local businesses and venues near on the routes.

The promotion is part of a three year programme which will eventually be advertising 60 new and improved circular and long distance routes and rides with the aim of attracting more visitors to rural areas and boosting the local economy.

Each leaflet gives an idea of how hard or easy the walk might be, how long it is, and will show a map and useful information about local pubs, B&Bs, cafes and other services available on or near the route.

Leaflet requests so far show the most popular walks are in the areas of Winchelsea, Camber Castle, Pevensey Castle and Cock Marling. Other walks in the promotion are in the areas of Barcombe, Wellingham, Buxted, Doleham, Silver Hill, Sandy Cross, DaneHill and Summer Hill.

The next walks to be published in early September will be in the areas of Buckhurst Park in Crowhurst, Dallington, Eridge and Rotherfield. Leaflets for these walks will be available free of charge from the Paths to Prosperity team by calling 01435 866408.

Any businesses who would wish to be included in the promotions should also contact the above number.
