The courses, ranging from NVQs to diplomas and degrees, are crucial to the County Council's ongoing drive to provide development opportunities to enable staff to deliver a high quality of services to East Sussex residents.
During the ceremony, East Sussex County Council’s Lead Member for Social Services, Councillor Joy Waite, praised the dedication and commitment of staff, who often sacrifice much of their free time to complete the courses.
"As a Council, we are continually striving to improve our services to the residents of East Sussex and by investing in the training and development of our staff we are making sure that happens.
"Staff from across the whole range of the department’s services have shown a tremendous commitment by obtaining these nationally recognised qualifications and developing their skills – all done at the same time as carrying out their day to day jobs.”
Qualifications have been attained in a range of fields including:
- NVQ in Promoting Independence
- NVQ in Care
- BTEC Certificate in Management
- Diploma in Social Work
- Diploma in Mental Health Studies
- Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People Foundation Certificate in Deaf Studies
- Masters of Science in Occupational therapy
- Batchelor of Science with Honours in Social Welfare and Social Science
- Open University course in Understanding Health and Social Care
