Uckfield Slow down for children week

Wednesday 23 June 2004

Children from Holy Cross Primary School have been driving home the message to motorists this week that they must slow down.

As part of the week long Uckfield Slow Down for Children Week, the pupils (pictured) from Holy Cross joined Lead County Council Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, Councillor Matthew Lock, town councillors and residents to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and following too closely behind the vehicle in front. Parents were also encouraged to ensure that children are safely belted in with the message "Slow Down and Belt Up.”

The County Council’s road safety team worked with the children in six Uckfield Primary Schools during the week doing child pedestrian training, cycle training, speed checks and in-car safety.
