Review of social care fees for home care providers

We contacted businesses who provide home care support to understand more about their businesses and how the current financial environment is affecting them. This will help us to decide how much the fees that we will pay them in 2012/13 should be.

Background information

A diverse range of businesses deliver home care services on behalf of East Sussex County Council. Home care services include help with personal care, such as washing and dressing or help with practical household tasks.

This survey will help us to find out about their costs so that we can consider any differences when we set our fee rate.

We are currently finalising our plans for the process of setting care home fee rates for 2012/13.

Who could take part?

We wrote to all the home care providers who have a contract with us, inviting them to take part in this survey. This letter would have arrived by 31 January 2012.

This consultation closed on 12 March 2012.

What happens next?

Our proposals for the fee rates for home care support for 2012/13 have been considered by the Management Team in our Adult Social Care Department (DMT). We are now writing to all of the home care providers who have contracts with us to tell them about the recommended fee rates.

We will be pleased to receive your feedback on this offer, no later than 1 June 2012, and hope that the decision will be finalised and the new rate paid from July 2012, back-dated to 9 April 2012.
