We're working on plans for a new historical resource centre called The Keep and we asked you for your views on the project and the designs for the new building.
Background information
The Keep will provide a home for all the archives and historical resources of East Sussex and Brighton & Hove together with the Special Collections of the University of Sussex.
It will be a vibrant community resource and research facility that is open to all ages. It will also include the library and headquarters of the Sussex Family History Group.
You can find out more about the project and download images and plans in our section on The Keep.
Who took part?
Anyone could take part in the survey, we wanted as many people as possible to tell us what they thought. Your views have helped us to make sure that The Keep meets the needs of everyone who might want to use it.
You told us what you thought by completing an online survey. We also held public consultation events in libraries, where you gave us your views.
This consultation closed on 28 May 2010.
Consultation results
The results of our consultations have been analysed and they now form part of our Statement of Community Involvement. This was submitted with our planning application in October 2010.
We have made some improvements to our proposals following your feedback, including:
- making the café area bigger
- providing an outside space for eating
- changing the front doors from revolving to sliding
- changing the education and multi-function room spaces around to improve access and minimise disruption to other areas.
