The County Council is working with the NHS to develop a joint strategy for providing health and social care in East Sussex. We have already talked to some relevant people and organisations, which has allowed us to draw up a draft strategy for supporting disabled adults with physical or sensory impairments (such as sight or hearing problems) or long-term conditions.
This strategy is called 'Improving Life Chances' and is available to download below.
Have your say
Between 22 February and 22 May 2009 we asked you to tell us what you thought of the strategy. We heard from 284 people in total, including carers, people from voluntary and community organisations, service providers, and local authority and NHS staff, as well as disabled people themselves.
If you responded, thanks very much. Your responses helped us develop our strategy ready for further consultation with key stakeholders about how best to put it into action.
The consultation closed on 22 May 2009.
Background to this consultation
Social care and health care needs and services are often closely linked. East Sussex County Council, NHS East Sussex Downs & Weald and NHS Hastings & Rother hope to be able to offer an improved service by working together to develop a joint strategy for providing these care and support services.
New government initiatives, such as Putting People First, place a firm emphasis on health and social care providers planning services with input from members of the public. This consultation is the first step in a series of discussions with interested parties to help us make sure our services are as effective, relevant and useful as possible.
