Reviewing the Compact 2009 – statutory, voluntary and community groups working together

The East Sussex Compact is an agreement between the Government and the Community and Voluntary Sector about how they can best work together.

From August to October 2009, we asked for your help reviewing the Compact. The aim of the review is to:

  • build awareness of the Compact and help create a better understanding of it
  • report on events and activities to date
  • collect and present evidence of successes and good practice
  • collect and present evidence of any bad practice, and to learn and develop from this.

Your views

We asked for your thoughts on:

  • how the Compact is working in East Sussex
  • the Compact Action Plan 2009
  • the East Sussex Compact Information Folder – this holds all the important documents and guidance on Compact Working. You can see these documents listed at Compact for East Sussex.

This consultation closed on Monday 26 October.

Results of the review and what happened next

The outcomes of this review were presented at the East Sussex Compact Annual Event on Monday 2 November 2009.

The results of this review:

  • checked the Compact Action Plan 2009 went ahead as planned
  • gave examples of the Compact at work, and highlighted improvements and issues in relation to the action plan targets
  • identifed matters to consider for the next action plan.

For the second year runnning, we've received an Excellence Award from the Commission for the Compact. This award recognises the work we've done to put into practice the principles of the Compact in voluntary and community organisations and public sector agencies in East Sussex.
