Consultation results
Results showed considerable local support for the scheme and works were carried out in 2009.
A plan showing the final designs for the scheme can be downloaded below.
The final scheme includes:
- pedestrian islands, kerb build-outs and a traffic island to physically narrow the road
- road markings to visually narrow the road
- vehicle activated signs to warn drivers exceeding the speed limit
- a mini-roundabout at the junction with Mount Pleasant Road.

Background
We asked for your comments about proposals to introduce a traffic calming scheme along Elphinstone Road, Hastings which aims to reduce vehicle speeds and make improvements for pedestrians.

Viewing the plans and commenting
There was an exhibition of the proposals at Hastings United Football Club in June 2008. After the exhibition, plans were displayed at Hastings Town Hall until 28 July 2008.
