Supporting the voluntary and community sector
In the summer of 2007, we asked people working in the voluntary and community sectors for their views on how the Council can more effectively:
- encourage, support and celebrate volunteering
- coordinate with other funders the way that grants are given
- provide support and communications.
The consultation took place over a twelve week period. We received responses from a wide range of Voluntary and Community Organisations (VCOs) and Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) across the county.
Consultation results
You can read a summary of respondents’ views in Appendix 1 of the report at the foot of this page, along with the Council’s response to the points raised.
The results of the consultation will be used to set the 2008/2009 Action Plan for our Voluntary and Community Services Co-ordinator, with the aim of. improving the relationship between the Council and the voluntary and community sector.
Next Steps
In the light of these responses, we have revised the Statement of Intent on Working with the Voluntary and Community Sector. This statement forms Appendix 2 of the report below.
