Results
The results of the Seaford controlled parking zone consultation can be downloaded below.
Of the responses received 36% were from residential households and 55% were from businesses. We also received 1150 letters and five petitions.
Your feedback shows that overall, Seaford residents and businesses do not want parking controls to the extent that were proposed. However, the majority of residents were in favour of some kind of parking controls in some streets – especially in the town centre.
While most people recognise that there are problems associated with parking in Seaford, any solutions must be:
- sympathetic to the character of the town
- focused on the areas where the problems arise
- applied with a 'light touch'.
The Town Council would like to be actively involved with the County and District Councils to develop a more modest solution, tailored to the specific needs of the town.
Next steps
These results were reported to the Lead Member for Transport and Environment on 25 June 2007.
Further street-by-street consultation was carried out with residents, members of the town council and Seaford Chamber of Commerce, in September 2007. The results are being analysed and will be available in November 2007.
