Consultation on services for children with special educational needs
In 2004 a Project Board began a review of special educational needs provision in the County. They made eight recommendations, which have been discussed at meetings with parents, schools, external agencies and voluntary groups. Young people also had the opportunity to comment.
In early 2005 we asked for your views on these recommendations, providing background information and a response form on this website. This consultation closed in March 2005.
The results of this consultation and the relevant documents can be downloaded below. They include a summary of responses to each of the recommendations and a separate document that sets out the actions that will be taken as a result.
Informal consultation on the designations of special schools
One outcome of the 2005 consultation was a decision to be clearer about the way that some special schools are described. This will the make the similarities and differences between schools easier to understand and more consistent.
The consultation closed on 30th November 2006 and no formal objections were received. Following Lead Member approval in July 2007, the school descriptions come into force September 2007.
