Provisional Local Transport Plan 2006 – 2011 (LTP2): Accessibility Strategy
In 2003, the government published a report showing the important role of transport in making essential services accessible to as many people as possible.
The Department for Transport (DfT) has issued guidance advising that accessibility should be a vital part of local transport plans. Find out more about accessibility planning from DfT.
As part of the second provisional Local Transport Plan (LTP2) we produced an Accessibility Strategy which looks at access to:
- employment
- education
- healthcare
- healthy food shopping.
Access is not just about transport and can be influenced by a range of other factors including:
- the location of services – whether they are provided locally
- the design of services – whether are accessible to all groups
- the delivery of services – whether they can also be provide as a mobile or remote service
We asked for your comments using a questionnaire. The closing date for your comments was Friday 27 May 2005.
The results of the consultation are contained in Framework Accessibility Strategy documents below.
