Planning for more equitable social services

The social services department provides services for many vulnerable people, including older people and children and families in need, as well as people with disabilities and mental health problems. There is concern that people from minority communities are not getting the appropriate access to services they are entitled to, partly because of a lack of knowledge of what is available.

In April 2005 individuals and organisations were invited to comment on the issues identified in the 'Equality Impact Assessment – Departmental View' report for social services.

The comments received helped us assess how the service meets the needs of 'minority' groups, such as black and minority ethnic people, disabled people, women, and people of all ages in East Sussex.

You can download documents about the results of the survey, and recommended changes to services, in the documents below.

The closing date for comments was 15 May 2005.
