South of England Show Consultation

This consultation took place at the South of England Show between 10–12 June 2004 where we had a popular stand on the history of the county.

Visitors to the show were asked to come onto the stand and fill in a questionnaire on what they thought about living in East Sussex.

Results

  • 93% of East Sussex residents were proud to say they lived in East Sussex
  • 81% believed that people in the rest of the UK thought East Sussex was a good place to live
  • 90% selected good scenery and countryside as their favourite aspect of East Sussex, 36% selected public transport as their worst aspect of East Sussex
  • 68% of residents chose local newspapers as the most popular means for the Council to consult with local communities. Information direct to homes was also popular.

Feedback has been given to Cabinet Members and Senior Officers. Responses on how residents like to consult with the Council will be useful in future consultation exercises and the transport responses will be used to help shape the development of a draft Local Transport Plan over the coming months.
