Residents' Satisfaction Survey
Between October 2003 and January 2004, over 1,100 residents were asked for their views on the performance of the Council.
The questionnaire looked at a range of issues including:
- overall satisfaction with the authority and perceptions of how its performance has changed over the last three years.
- quality of life in the local area
- public transport services
- complaint handling
- Council priorities.
Results
Three quarters of those questioned were satisfied with the way we run our business and services. This is an improvement of twelve per cent since the last survey three years ago. The survey also showed very strong support for our priorities. Areas seen as essential were:
- providing safe and better maintained roads and street lights
- reducing crime and the fear of crime.
The results of this survey form part of a national consultation begun through the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Its full title is the 'Best Value Performance Indicator General User Satisfaction Survey'.
Your impact
Although the overall results are good, we will address those areas where residents are dissatisfied as part of our programme to improve performance and provide better services for local people.
