Bexhill and Hastings travel options

In autumn 2004 we asked people living in Bexhill and Hastings whether they wanted a link road and where it should be built.

More than 4,500 people visited the exhibitions and the results show that:

  • 84% of local people are in favour of a new road linking Bexhill and Hastings
  • the orange and blue routes were the two favoured most by local people.
  • of these two routes, people felt the blue route would have the least effect on the environment and the natural landscape.

Taking into account the comments and suggestions from local people and environmental organisations, design work was carried out to modify the blue route. Cabinet has agreed that the modified blue route is the best option for Bexhill and Hastings, and a successful bid for funding was made to Government in July 2005.

Download a map of the preferred route and read the responses received through the consultation, below.
