Honours nominations
Do you know someone who has made a real difference in their field of work or in the community? Then why not nominate them for an honour?
Honours recognise the extraordinary achievements of ordinary people. Since 1993, nominations for honours have been welcomed from members of the public. The Queen is 'Fountain of Honour' and confers awards on the advice of the Prime Minister. The list of people recommended for honours aims to be representative of society as a whole, including men and women from all walks of life.
The honours lists are published twice a year, at New Year and in mid-June on the date of The Queen's official birthday. There are a limited number of awards available, so only those who have given exceptional service are likely to succeed. Lists of honours are published in the national press and on the Cabinet Office website.
