About me: Councillor Olive Woodall
I was elected councillor for Eastbourne, Hampden Park in 1997, which is the area covering Hampden Park, having moved here in 1972.
One of the biggest problems in this area is the shortage of reasonably paid employment.
But how did I get here?
I have been involved in politics off and on since I was about 15. One of my great interests is history and I think my love of politics sprang from that.
I spent my working life as a teacher and later ran for Council. I was reluctant at first to stand for Council but friends persuaded me to do so and the experience has been very rewarding.
As a councillor, you get to go backstage and find out what’s going on behind the scenes.
My community
East Sussex is a beautiful county and my division is a good, friendly community. As a county councillor, I am proud to have been able to help individuals and the community.
My home life
I am single and have no children but council work makes such demands of your time that other commitments, friends and family can suffer if you are not organised.
My spare time
I am a governor of Parkland Infant School. I enjoy taking my dog for a walk and caring for my cats. My other interests include photography, gardening and spinning and weaving.
