My politics: Councillor Beryl Healy

Councillor Beryl Healy

Party: Liberal Democrat

Division: Eastbourne - Devonshire

The best thing about being a councillor is representing Eastbourne and helping the residents resolve problems affecting their daily lives.

By 2009, I would like to get a better deal financially for East Sussex and more recognition from central government of the problems we face of low wages and high house prices.

I would also make carrying out the much-needed improvement to road links across the county a priority, especially the A27 between Lewes and Eastbourne but also around Hastings and towards the Channel Tunnel.

In the long term, we have to resolve the issues of delivering personal social services to elderly residents. We must also work to improve street lighting, pavements and road safety in the county.
