My politics: Councillor Godfrey Daniel

Councillor Godfrey Daniel

Party: Labour

Division: Hastings - Braybrooke & Castle

It’s my third term and improving standards of education is very important to me. The Secretary of State is considering plans for a tertiary education college in my area and I would welcome the investment that this would bring into Hastings.

In the longer term, I very much support the Bexhill/Hastings link road which will improve the quality of life for so many living on the A259. At the moment, too much unnecessary traffic still has to go along the seafront.

Things are improving in Hastings and I’m keen to continue that. My area is one of the poorest in Sussex and the Castle part of my division has the second highest rate of unemployment in Sussex.

I’ll be tackling these issues by trying to stimulate regeneration in Hastings, campaigning for improved community safety and trying to lower the level of crime.
