Equalities Scheme and statutory monitoring

Latest: Tell us what you think of our draft single equality scheme by taking part in our consultation. Send us your views by 17 September.

We have an equality policy committing us to:

  • eliminate unlawful discrimination
  • promote equality of opportunity, and
  • promote good community relations.

We are currently developing a single equality scheme to bring all our work on equality and diversity together in a clear and structured way. Tell us what you think of our draft single equality scheme 2010–13.

Equalities legislation

You can find out about the different pieces of legislation we have to work to in the documents below.

Equality monitoring

The council produces an annual equality data report. It includes statistical information on our workforce including recruitment, promotions, training and staff turnover.

Council departments carry out equality monitoring reviews and impact assessments to make sure their policies and service functions do not disadvantage any sectors of the community.

You can find out how we are progressing on equality and diversity actions in the documents below.
