  • There were over 437,710 visits to East Sussex Community Information Service in 2005/06.
  • East Sussex County Council holds around 15 miles of archives and modern records.
  • The oldest document at East Sussex Record Office dates from 1101 and is a grant from King Henry I to the Abbot of Battle Abbey.
  • East Sussex County Council holds the tooth of Gundrada de Warenne, daughter of William the Conqueror, amongst the archives at East Sussex Record Office.
  • Of the Council’s services which could be accessed electronically, over 99 per cent are provided electronically.
  • Over 99 per cent of the county has access to Broadband which means better access to services for people who live and work in rural communities or have limited mobility.
  • The first response to East Sussex consumer enquiries and complaints is now via the National Consumer Direct Helpline (08454 04 05 06) freeing our Trading Standards advisors from routine enquires to assist those most in need more effectively.
