Improving access to services
Telephone
We have made changes to our telephone service to make it simpler and more convenient for you.
We can now transfer calls directly between East Sussex County Council and district and borough councils. This means that you won’t have to ring another number if you need to be passed to one of our partners.
We have also reduced the number of contact numbers we publish, so it will be easier and quicker for you to get through to the right department.
Email
More of you are using email to contact us than ever before. This increased demand for email communication has led us to change our systems and procedures to ensure that your emails are dealt with promptly and effectively.
We now also provide an email contact for every service that we provide. These are available on this website, linked from relevant sections of the site.
Internet
Details of all East Sussex County Council’s services can be found on our website. The website provides email addresses and online forms, making it easy for you to contact us.
You can access the Internet for free at your local library.
Personal visits
We are making it easier for you to visit us in person by providing clear details of where our offices are based, and which services you will find in each.
Community help points and public information points are helping to reduce the number of people who have to travel to our offices to see us.
Community help points
Community help points are drop-in advice centres, conveniently located in local shopping areas.
Their friendly staff work with public and voluntary sector organisations to provide information on topics such as benefits, housing, council tax, parking permits and community safety.
