David has a learning disability and lives in a care home, where they advise him on managing his weekly personal allowance.
When at the bank, a carer noticed that David's balance was less than it should be and the statement included unusual transactions.
The staff member contacted us, and we immediately opened an investigation. We met David and asked for his permission to contact the police. By looking at CCTV footage of the cash machine, they identified a staff member from the care home taking money from David's account. The support worker was prosecuted, dismissed from his post and barred from working with vulnerable adults.
