CGP funding in 2011
In July 2011, the County Council and local NHS funded over £7 million to 47 voluntary and community organisations to improve the health, social care and well-being of local people over the next three years. Local service users and carers played a key role in evaluating bids.
With investment of £8.5 million available, 73 organisations sent in over 170 applications – for more than £20 million of funding.
These new activities, and opportunities for volunteering, started in most cases from 1 October 2011:
NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) have written a case study showing how the Commissioning Grants Prospectus is a good example of social value:
Background
Over the past three years we've consulted users of services, carers and the voluntary sector, about providing services in the future, and how different organisations could be involved.
First launched in early 2011, the Prospectus is a joint approach to investing. It offers direct support to local people in the following areas:
- Carers
- Older people
- Disabled people, people with sensory impairments and long term conditions
- Mental health and vulnerable people
- People with learning disabilities
- Improving health and wellbeing
