Moving in and out of East Sussex
Moving to East Sussex
If you are in residential or nursing care and you are moving to East Sussex, you will continue to receive care when you move. You should speak to your social worker or the residential care home manager about your plans.
The local authority which currently provides your care will continue to do so when you move into East Sussex. You can get a list of residential and nursing care homes from the Commission for Social Care Inspection. The website gives you general information about the home, with inspection reports which you can download. You can also view care homes on our local website CareFinder.
If you currently receive a service such as home care and you would like to continue this when you move to East Sussex, contact our adult social care team.
Moving from East Sussex
If you are funded by us in a residential care home in East Sussex and want to move to another county, we will continue to fund your care once you have left East Sussex.
We continue to be responsible for your care, and you will have contact with your current social worker from East Sussex. We would not normally pay more for a care home in another county than we would for a similar home in East Sussex.
You can get a list of resential and nursing care homes in other counties from the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
How long do I have to wait?
The time it takes for you to be moved to a new residential or nursing care home will vary depending on your needs and the care you require. You will continue to live in East Sussex until a place is found for you.
What if I am paying for my own care?
If you are paying for the care yourself, and we have a worker involved in your assessment, they will liaise with the other authority about your care and needs. Once you have moved, we will no longer have responsibility for your care.
