SMS emergency services for help

The emergency SMS service lets deaf, hard of hearing and speech-impaired people send an SMS text message to the UK 999 service where it will be passed to the police, ambulance, fire rescue, or coastguard.

Report neglect or abuse

Report poor standards of care and other abuse such as inappropriate verbal, physical, psychological and sexual behaviour, or theft:

Stroke

If you suspect someone is having a stroke, phone 999 immediately.

Dementia

If you care for someone who has dementia and they are becoming increasingly anxious, confused and aggressive, speak to your GP or phone Carer's Direct: 0808 802 0202.

Urgent relief work for carers

The Carers Respite Emergency Support Service (CRESS) is a free service to support the person you look after if you are involved in an emergency or are suddenly taken ill.

Becoming incontinent

Don't be embarrassed about getting medical help. The symptoms can be improved, and sometimes cured.
