Handyperson grant scheme

If you need help with small jobs around the home

If you are 65 or over, and have no more than £10,000 in savings, you can apply for a grant of up to £200 to help with small maintenance or repair jobs in your home – such as changing bulbs or turning mattresses, fitting blinds or shelves, assembling furniture, fixing a dripping tap.

How it works

Please use the application form at the foot of this page. You can apply for more than one grant as long as the total is not more than £200 in a 12-month period. You must say what you want the money for, and give us some evidence to show that this is the right amount – such as a written quote from a trader, or the advertised price of materials needed.

If you qualify for the grant, we will send payment to your bank account. We will also send you a leaflet with advice about getting the work done. We may contact you afterwards to find out how you got on. Full details are in the documents below.

Returning your form

Please note: If sending by email, you don't need to add the suggested 'electronic signature'.
