What services may be available?

People with 'critical' or 'substantial' needs will be eligible for social care support.

Home care or residential care

If you need home care or residential care, an adult social care manager will consider your assessed needs and decide what services you need to meet them. We have a limited budget for these services, and we will pay for services for those people with the highest immediate need and who are most at risk if they do not get this support. If you do not get your services immediately, we will continue to review your case every week until we can release the necessary funding.

Daily living equipment

There is no charge for daily living equipment. There is no charge for minor adaptations up to £1000.

Major adaptations

By adaptations, we mean making changes to a disabled person’s home so it is easier for them to live in. We do not pay for adaptations ourselves. If your assessment shows that you need an adaptation, we can make recommendations in support of your application to your local district or borough council. There is more detailed information about this process in the ‘Joint approach to adaptations’ booklet. You can download the Joint approach to adaptations leaflet or request this from Social Care Direct.
